BookLive Co., Ltd., (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) pays keen attention to the protection of customers’ personal information obtained through its business activities as a business leading the e-book market so that the customers can use e-books with security. The Company deems the protection of customers’ personal information as the Company’s social responsibility, as well as the fundamentals of our business activities. In order to responsibly protect customers’ personal information, the Company has developed a policy for the fair and proper control and management of personal information that it handles and has built an internal system for that, implementing and maintaining measures for it and improving them on an ongoing basis.
When the Company handles personal information, it shall obtain, use, and provide it only within the scope necessary for the content distribution business, content delivery business, media business, EC business, and the employment and personnel management of employees. In addition, the Company shall manage personal information to prevent unintended use and provision of it beyond the scope agreed by the person.
The Company shall comply with laws and regulations, national policies, and other rules regarding personal information.
The Company shall implement reasonable security measures and corrective measures in order to prevent unauthorized access to personal information, and the loss, destruction, falsification, and leaks of personal information.
The Company shall manage personal information properly by appointing a chief privacy officer who has the responsibility and authorization for the implementation and operation of the personal information protection management system.
The Company’s personal information protection management system shall be improved on an ongoing basis through education, management, audits, and reviews.
The Company shall establish a point of contact for inquiries related to personal information, such as requests for the disclosure, correction, deletion, and refusal of use and provision of personal information, as well as other complaints and consultation, and makes a response within two weeks.

Purpose of Use
Personal information obtained by the Company shall be used only for the following purposes.
Personal information received in the content business
・Procedures related to the selection of winners and the sending of presents
・Procedures related to settlement and the detection of unauthorized usage
・Procedures related to the shipment of merchandise and communication
・Procedures related to user support
・Response to inquiries
・Communication related to the works of creators who posted them
・Communication for questionnaire surveys and recruitment of monitors

Collected information may be used for the analysis of statistical data after being processed in such a way that individuals cannot be identified or specified.
Obtainment / use of personal information
In obtaining or using personal information, the Company shall clarify the purpose of use and comply with laws and regulations. In addition, unless otherwise specified by laws and regulations, personal information shall not be used beyond the purpose without the consent of the person.
The Company obtains information associated with personal information that does not fall under personal information by itself, such as attribute information (age, gender, etc.), cookies, IP addresses, ad identifiers (AAID, IDFA, etc.) and logging information related to the usage of the Internet, including location information and action history (hereinafter collectively referred to as “information associated with personal information”). When users provide their personal information for the Company in order to use the Company’s services, the Company may connect the personal information with information associated with personal information of the users, and in this case, the information associated with the personal information of the users shall be handled as personal information.
Provision to the third parties
The Company shall provide no personal information for the third parties unless otherwise agreed to by the person, except for a request made pursuant to the provisions of laws and regulations or judiciary proceedings. Outsourcing
The Company may entrust personal information to accomplish the said purpose of use. However, the Company shall not allow the use of personal information beyond the scope of the purpose.
Voluntary nature of information provision
Provision of personal information to the Company is voluntary. However, if there is any omission or error in personal information, it may be impossible to provide normal services.
Disclosure of personal information
With regard to the notification of the purpose of use, the disclosure, correction, deletion, and refusal of use and provision of personal information, please download the “Personal Information Disclosure Request Form” here, and mail it to the following address along with the necessary documents and fee. In applying for disclosure, never fail to read the “Handling of Personal Information in Disclosure” described in the “Personal Information Disclosure Request Form”. As a rule, applications must be made only by the customer.
About a fee
For the notification of the purpose of use and the disclosure of personal information, 1,000 yen (consumption tax included) will be asked as a fee per application. In mailing the applications, please enclose a fixed postal money order for 1,000 yen as a fee. If the amount of the fee is insufficient, the Company will notify the applicant of it. If all the amount is not paid, the application shall be deemed invalid.

Obtainment of information on usage by the method that is not easily recognizable by the person who provides the information
The website or software of the Company acquires the following information from customers in order to provide better service. The Company is not able to identify individuals only through the following information and will not use the information by combining it with any other kind of information in order to identify individuals. However, the Company may use the information on usage for behavioral targeting advertising [*1] by the Company or the third-party companies.

[*1] Behavioral targeting advertising refers to the method of delivering advertisements tailored to customers’ interests based on their website browsing histories.
[*2] A cookie is a mechanism to place and store data on PCs temporarily. Typically, an identifier number is written to be used for identifying a user or a device in many cases. The members can refuse to receive cookies, but if doing so, they may be unable to use part of the service.
[*3] An access log refers to the log of a website that may include IP addresses, browser types, and domain names.
The information collected by the third-party companies for the purpose of behavioral targeting advertising shall be used according to those companies’ own privacy policies. If customers want to stop the behavioral targeting advertising by the third-party companies, they can stop the use of their information as described above for the behavioral targeting advertising through the means specified by each of the third-party companies at their corporate websites below.

Matters related to security management measures
The Company shall implement the necessary and proper security management measures in order to manage personal data, including the prevention of leaks, loss, or damage. In addition, the Company shall exercise the necessary and proper supervision of employees and outsourcing contractors (including subcontractors et al.) that handle personal data. Specific security management measures for personal data is set forth separately in the “Detailed Regulations about the Handling of Personal Information” and other detailed rules.
Outsourcing / provision of the handling of personal information overseas
If personal information has to be provided or entrusted to the third-parties overseas, the Company shall provide the personal information after checking to see that proper security management measures are implemented or after notifying the person in question of the name of the country of the third party, information on the personal information protection system in the country, and information on the security management measures implemented by the third party to receive approval from the person.
